'ITie S tuden t Associat ion Sena te passed a resolution c o n d e m n i n g the " m a n n e r in which the adminis t ra t ion of Rice University shu t down KTRU" while also e x p r e s s i n g disappo in tmen t in t h e s t u d e n t m a n a g e m e n t of KTRU at last n igh t ' s SA meet ing . T h e r e s o l u t i o n , w h i c h p a s s e d unani mously , was t h e third resolut ion passed by this sena te . It s t a t e s that K TRU acted in an unprofess ional manne r . However, the resolution also s ta tes that the SA "is deeply disappointed at the adminis t ra t ion ' s c lear violation of the sovere ignty of the Student Association of Rice Univers i ty . . . . T h e administrat ion does not have the r ight to in terfere with the internal affairs of a s tuden t organizat ion and still claim to suppor t s tudent gove rnmen t . " T h e sena te d i scussed the resolution for about an hour and a half. Much of the discussion cen te red on a sen tence that originally s tated that the SA was "embar ras sed by the s tuden t m a n a g e m e n t of KTRU." Wiess Col lege junior Josh Ginsberg, one of the a u t h o r s of the resolution, said the committee c h o s e the word "embar ra s sed" because the SA should have supervised KTRU's actions. ' T h e reason that we chose to use the word ' emba r r a s sed ' in t e rms of K TRU was, as the parent organizat ion of KTRU, we take responsibility, and we should feel e m b a r r a s s e d if t hose u n d e r our supervision do not act properly," G insbe rg said. Baker Col lege Pres ident Melissa Buddie said many s tuden t s at Baker were, in fact, e m b a r r a s s e d by K'FRU's act ions. "There a re a lot of people at Baker College that feel that what KTRU did was a mis take and they a re e m b a r r a s s e d by their actions," Boddie said. However , KTRU Station M a n a g e r J o h n n y So said because he was not told to punish his DJs by any adminis t ra tors prior to t h e shutdown, he did not feel that his ac t ions w e r e wrong.
